“Imagine that you are sitting at the ocean, just where the waves come ashore. When a wave comes, it washes over you and runs up the beach. Then, the wave turns around, and recedes over you, going back to the ocean. Then, the current turns again, and another wave washes over you. Over and over, you experience this cycling process. This is like the breath, which exhales, transitions, inhales, transitions, and then starts the process again.”
Yoga Sutra 2.51 interpretation by Swami Jnaneshvara

The equinox is a sublime point of stasis inherent in our constantly evolving world; an instant in time when the planet shifts its weight between darkness and light. I see these moments like an inhale and exhale. We are tied to the seasons in the same way that we are tied to the simplicity of our life giving breath, working in opposition to create equilibrium within movement. Exploring the space between seasonal extremes, this piece features two views at both opposing equinox points. It reveals the importance of looking to the cycles of nature for balance and reconciliation on this ever changing planet.
