Canadian Road Windows
The road trip is a popular right of passage for many Canadians. It is a unique experience where we are both witness and participant to our vast country, the highway a vein that moves us from the urban to the wild and back again. As a passenger I sit passively, humbled by the massiveness of the earth and sky that creates this iconic landscape.
These views were photographed as part of an ongoing series of travels. They are reflections of a feral landscape that lined the roadside and the objects that filled the frame of my window. This collection of images simultaneously honors the artifacts of the land while marking the vastness of space that is out of reach. The road trip moves travelers across the country. Here we find ourselves at the cusp of an overwhelmingly large frontier, something immense that spreads out beyond the windowpane.
